| NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release: July 23, 2001. OSHAWA-BASED HOSPITAL GROUP FIRST TO GO LIVE WITH PURCHASING ON CANADIAN HEALTH MARKETPLACE MISSISSAUGA, Ont. A major Ontario hospital group has successfully switched a portion of its purchasing function to Canadian Health Marketplace (CHM), powered by Neoforma.com, Inc. (Nasdaq: NEOF), in the first online business-to-business transactions between a Canadian hospital and medical supplier. The system has been very well received by our staff, who are pleased with the amount of time they are saving by using CHM, said John Callum, Chief Financial Officer Lakeridge Health, which operates five community hospitals in the Region of Durham. Lakeridge is currently making purchases online from Medical Mart, a distributor of medical/surgical supplies and the first supplier to sign on with CHM. The CHM platform has been integrated into Lakeridges internal information systems, making the transition seamless and avoiding duplication of work, added Mr. Callum. We will be moving other suppliers over to the CHM platform in the coming months. David Davidson, CHM Managing Director, said the move by Lakeridge to online purchases from Medical Mart is an important first step in paving the way to a full suite of Internet-based functionality for buyers and suppliers across Canada. There is no question that Lakeridge is demonstrating the value of online purchasing transactions and how it can help hospitals reduce costs without reducing the quantity and quality of health care, said Mr. Davidson. Robert J. West, Medical Mart Executive Vice President, said the CHM transactional process is working well with Lakeridge orders being received directly into Medical Marts information system. When fully implemented, the system will support electronic invoicing and payment, which will further reduce the need for human intervention in the transactional process. CHM is an Internet-based company established by Medbuy Corporation Canadas largest national medical Group Purchasing Organization to provide comprehensive e-commerce supply-management solutions. CHM recently relocated its office to 190 Robert Speck Parkway in Mississauga, putting the company closer to the supplier community and establishing its independence from Medbuy Corporation. The CHM site is powered by Neoforma, a leading North American health-care supply-chain solutions company. The site offers a variety of online services including product purchasing and online tracking of purchases and product usage. Neoforma uses proven, scalable technologies to provide customized marketplace solutions and services that enable customers to maximize their existing technology and supply-chain relationships.
