Medical Mart Supplies Ltd. is a family-owned Canadian sales, marketing
and wholesale, distribution company providing full service solutions
to the health care industry. Robert G. West incorporated Medical Mart
in January of 1978 in the city of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Having
15 years experience with a large national health care supply house,
the President created Medical Mart with the premise of specializing
in the needs of the health care provider, emphasizing
reliable service and the promotion of quality products. |
Scope & Scale
From its’ beginning 30 years ago, Medical Mart now employs
over 130 people across Canada and is the country’s largest and
fastest growing 100% Canadian-owned health care sales, marketing and
distribution company. A dedicated team of professional and experienced
employees support our customers coast-to-coast. A team of 15 Customer
Care representatives directly adds to the value created by Medical Mart’s
‘best-of-class’ 40 Account Managers. These
are highly motivated and skilled sales professionals providing valuable
solutions to customers on a daily basis thus allowing health
care providers to care for patients.
Internally, our trained and experienced Customer Care team, (“Trade
CSD Professionals”) assists in providing quality supplies and
equipment to the health care provider. Their knowledge and expertise
facilitates the daily processing of in excess of 1500 customer transactions
of varying size and value. Medical Mart continues to satisfy the needs
of the customer.
All business activities are driven by an information technology system
that is constantly being updated and modified as customers bring new
requirements to the business. Medical Mart’s ultimate goal is
to act quickly and accurately to the ever changing
needs of the customer. This responsiveness is the means to growing Medical
Mart’s business across Canada.
Medical Mart has physically grown over the years and in 2005 the entire
national distribution network was significantly expanded and upgraded.
Medical Mart now maintains a 107,000 square foot corporate centre and
distribution facility in Mississauga, Ontario. Additional state-of-the-art
distribution facilities are strategically located in St. John’s,
NL, Dartmouth, NS, Windsor, ON and Edmonton, AB for a total Canadian
capacity in excess of 200,000 square feet. Physical capacity will continue
to increase in the future.

Medical Mart is unique amongst health care distributors
in Canada as Medical Mart is the only health care distributor marketing
and selling directly to all of the health care providers.
This includes Hospitals, Long-term Care facilities and the Alternate
Care sector covering primary care Physicians, Dentists, Clinics (all
types), Laboratories, First Responders, Veterinarians and health care
affiliated pharmaceutical and biotechnology customers. Presence in the
consumer Home health care market continues to grow.
Under the direction of Robert J. West, Executive Vice President, along
with Ken Kirby, Senior Vice President; Steve Currie, CFO; Don Berry,
Executive Vice President; Medical Mart West, new and innovative value added health
care products and services are being introduced each year.
In Mississauga, Medical Mart moved their existing home health care retail business and open to the public in June 2005 a new retail consumer home health care store, located in the high profile Heartland Town Center. This 5,500 sq ft custom designed facility addresses the unique personalized needs of each home client within their local community. Our existing home health care customers have welcomed this new facility as a great improvement over our previous locations. Customers from across Canada access our health care consultants for clinical assistance and product needs are fulfilled via next day courier services.
Sales and Marketing efforts are focused with a specialized value
proposition specific to the customer needs. Medical Mart markets
and sells a vast and comprehensive line of over 80,000 world class medical/surgical
products from more than 600 suppliers from around the globe at competitive prices.
Medical Mart has been at the forefront of electronic
business trends and continues to leverage their operating system to
provide not only customer solutions, but to work with suppliers and other
stakeholders to improve health care efficiencies and productivity.
